Vimeo: The Photo Man
About:
This video is about a man that collects photos and these photos are of people that are complete strangers over the states. These photos are sold at the Markets.
Theme:
I cant identify any theme that runs through this except Memory. Memory of people that has been bought by a complete stranger.
Structure:
This video could have just been filmed in this mans garage and have him talk about why he has these, except the film maker shows where he keeps his stock and the place he sells it. This video shows that instead of the "Photo Man" talking, he took footage of people looking through these photos
Camera techniques/shots and other things:
This video starts of with photographs that has been taken and a voiceover of a conversation that the "Photo Man" is having with another person and then it goes into show where he stores all these photos that he has. There are shots of photographs that he holds and flicks which is a close up shot. None of the footage that has been taken is free handed, it shows a steady movement between the photos that has been shown and the market.
00:42: is the wide shot that shows how he looks at these photos. Everything is in focus and i think the videomaker is trying to show the viewers everything thats in storage.
01:01: shows a close up view of photographs that has been given to him. You can see that the the video maker has used a smaller f/stop which puts his hands and photos in focus and the blurry out of focus.
02:56 & 5:02: Medium shots have also been used to capture his emotions and feelings towards the people that take time to look at these photo.
Music:
The music starts to get more intense when he gets emotional and it just goes to show that he loves who he is.
